The Steel Valley Cluster 2012 Another year has passed and along with it another Steel Valley Cluster Dog Show in Canfield, Ohio! It was a great weekend for all involved. As anyone who has attended these shows knows, its usually TOO hot or TOO wet – or both! This year we Serena and Lily had a little moderation. Sure it got hot – it is August after all – but not as horrible as some past years for certain. The rain held off until the morning of the very last day and thankfully did not appear in its usual monsoon form. We met tons of great people – dog show people and spectators alike – and a great time was had by all! In our own camp, great successes dominated. Serena received the Best Junior Award on Sunday with her Great Pyrenees Lily amongst a group of much older Juniors – way to go Serena!! On Thursday and Friday’s Reagan’s Greyhound June won Best of Opposite Sex for her first two Grand Champion majors in her first weekend out as a Special. Elizabeth’s Afghan Hound puppy Mariner – aka Rinny – Black Puppy and Jacob, his favorite person! received his very first point at the tender age of just 6 months old and also acquitted himself very well with Lizzie’s expert handling in the Junior’s ring – what a good boy! One of our favorite resident visitors – Black Puppy the Pyrenean Shepherd pup (who I am told HAS a name and it is Beep, but we like Black Puppy better) – took a Puppy Group 2nd under the expert handling of Dani. Our friend Kathy’s Pyrenean Shepherd Sunny Bear had an incredible weekend winning best of breed all four days and taking a Group 2 on Saturday and a Group 1 on Sunday! GO SUNNY! All in all a fantastic successful weekend was had by everyone. We were able to catch up with old friends, enjoy the show, sell some food, treats and toys in our booth and have an incredible time! Our next stop will be the Canine Fun Days and Greyhound Reunion at the Polo Fields in Chagrin Falls the weekend of August 18th – come on by and check it out – fun for people and mostly for their dogs! Hope to see you there!
